Knightdale Station Park is a 71-acre park located in the town of Knightdale, which is just 20 minutes east of Raleigh. The town is named after Henry Haywood Knight, a local Wake County landowner who donated land to found a railroad depot. The park land, which used to be a farm and nursery, now stands as a beautiful community park with so much to offer for everyone!
The park does a great job making the town’s history a theme! The playground is farm and train themed because of Knightdale’s agriculture and railroad history. The big kid play area has a climbing structure that looks like a giant barn with multiple slides. The little kid area has small imaginative play structures like a play truck with a slide and farm playhouse. There is also a sandbox and swing set.
During the summer months, the fenced-in splash pad is open. The splash pad is small but has plenty of fun water features like sprayers and bucket drops. Next to it is a beautiful pond with a picturesque fountain.
The park also has 2 miles of paved trails perfect for walking, jogging, or biking. Four-legged friends can also run around in the dog park, while sports enthusiasts can enjoy athletic fields for soccer, baseball, and more. There are also picnic shelters and an amphitheater.
Whether you're seeking recreation, relaxation, or simply a connection to nature, Knightdale Station Park offers something for everyone amidst its rich history.
If you are looking for a bite to eat, Prime BBQ is a short 5 minute walk from the park and is known for its smoked meats and tasty barbeque sides. The pulled pork and brisket is a fan favorite. There is also a small playground outside for kids to play on while adults eat. Be sure to get here early in the day though, they are popular and can sell out of food!
