Splash pad season has officially begun in the Raleigh area, and one of the most fun parks to cool off this summer is Municipal Park in downtown Clayton! The park’s splash pad is open daily from 9am to 8pm offering a free and fun way for families to beat the heat.
The splash pad at Municipal Park is designed to cater to kids of all ages. Younger kids can play on the fun water pads that spray as kids jump, along with lots of little water fountains. There are multiple water buckets that dump water and water squirters, which are favorites for bigger kids. There is also a giant water table with spinners to play with. The concrete surface is designed to be less slippery. While the splash pad itself is not shaded, there are tables with umbrellas and multiple picnic shelters nearby for a comfortable spot to relax while keeping an eye on the kids. Restroom facilities are conveniently located next to the splash pad.
Municipal Park also has an awesome playground right next to the splash pad! There is a giant climbing structure under a shaded canopy, swings, see saw and other fun play equipment. The ground is artificial grass. The park also has two basketball courts, one of which doubles as a futsal court, and a paved walking loop. The walking loop is about half a mile long and is right next to the playground and splash pad.
The splash pad at Municipal Park is a perfect (and free!) way to cool off during the hot summer months. With fun water features for all ages, an awesome playground right next to it, and shaded spots for parents to relax, it’s an easy go-to outing for summer fun. Plus, Municipal Park is just one of many splash pads open across the Raleigh area, so families have plenty of options to explore and stay cool all season long in the Triangle!
