NEW Knightdale Station Park - Knightdale, NC
By Chelsea Nallenweg
Since its grand opening in September 2013, Knightdale Station Park in Knightdale has been a go-to playground in the Triangle. For more than a decade, its beloved wooden structures have created lasting memories, but they also have become outdated. This summer, the park reopened after a full transformation, bringing a fresh, colorful, modern look with added safety while preserving the layout and spirit of the old playground, and it is awesome!

The new Knightdale Station playground features a bright, playful design with soft rubber surfacing for added safety and comfort. Multiple shaded areas now cover the play spaces, keeping everyone cool on warm, sunny days. The familiar layout remains, with a large playground for older kids with multiple big slides and climbing structures, alongside a smaller, colorful train-themed playground perfect for younger children.

They also stayed with the farm theme with some play farm animals and the silo and barn! The barn has a small rock climbing wall inside with a small twisty slide coming off it, perfect for littles. While the silo has a big tunnel slide that is only accessible by a twisty ladder, making it a good challenge for older kids! There is also a variety of swing options, including traditional seats, toddler swings, and inclusive designs, all under a shaded canopy. They even added a wheelchair-accessible glider!

With its vibrant new design, inclusive features, added safety, and the same beloved layout, the new Knightdale Station Park playground is going to be a local favorite! Whether you’re climbing, sliding, swinging, or simply enjoying a sunny day under the shade, it’s once again a great park to visit—and now better than ever!
