Beech Bluff County Park- Willow Spring
Beech Bluff County Park, an impressive 300-acre park in southeastern Wake County, is set to officially open its doors with a grand celebration on Saturday, March 15, from 11 am to 3 pm! This brand-new park, built on land that was farmed since the late 1700s, has been transformed into an awesome community park for everyone to enjoy.
The grand opening event, known as the Beech Bluff Bash, will have a lot of fun activities to celebrate! The celebration kicks off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Sage Shelter, where Wake County officials will mark the park’s official opening. There will be live music, guided hikes and food trucks!
One of the biggest highlights of Beech Bluff County Park is its incredible playground. Designed with kids of all ages and abilities in mind, it features two separate climbing structures. The smaller structure is perfect for toddlers with multiple slides and a ramp that leads to a giant shaded picnic shelter. The larger climbing structure is built for older children with a slide tower that has two tall slides. The playground’s surface is made of soft rubber, making it a safe and comfortable place for young toddlers to run around. There’s also a swing set and a large rock climbing wall for even more adventure.
Beech Bluff County Park also has 4 miles worth of scenic trails through the woods. Some trails are paved, making them perfect for strollers, bikes, and scooters, while others are gravel for those who prefer a more natural hiking experience. There is also a path that leads to a wildlife viewing deck overlooking Middle Creek and a unique canopy walk that gives visitors an elevated view of the surrounding landscape. The “Great Lawn” is perfect for picnics, kites, games, or simply enjoying the fresh air.
For those who love to garden, the park also features community gardens where locals can come together to grow and share produce. Sustainability is a key focus of the park’s design, with solar panels and geothermal energy helping to power its facilities. Bathrooms are conveniently located under the picnic shelter, and while the playground itself is fairly sunny, the shelter offers plenty of shade for parents looking for a comfortable place to sit and watch their kids play. There is also a beautiful Park Center that has exhibits and classrooms.
Whether you’re looking for a place to take a peaceful walk through the woods, let the kids climb and slide on the playground, or enjoy a picnic under the shade of the large shelter or “great lawn”, there’s something for everyone at this awesome new park. Beech Bluff County Park is sure to become a favorite park in Wake County!
