Boxyard at RTP
Boxyard is more of an experience than a restaurant. Boxyard consists of a pavilion with a unique year round dining and shopping experience. There’s always something going on. This means you can go for a good bite to eat, or see someone perform outside (I’ve seen fire jugglers before).
Location
Boxyard is a pavilion in Durham, surrounded by numerous shipping containers. Each shipping container is filled with different local small businesses. It’s in the middle of Research Triangle Park, making it the go-to lunch spot for many startups that work in the offices nearby. Some of the shipping containers are shops and some are restaurants.
The shops include: Guildhall Games, a specialty game and toy store, Honeypress, a stationary store, and New Wave Capitol, a place to get your haircut.
Dining
There are many local vendors that rent space at Boxyard. They are all small businesses and the food is amazing. Personally, I’ve eaten at Leroy’s Tacos, Bulkogi Korean Barbeque, and Fullsteam. At Leroy’s Tacos, I had one of the best carnitas of my time. Bulkogi’s build your own Korean barbeque bowl is unbeatable. And Fullsteam, beyond being a local brewery, has nice fluffy square pizza slices.
There are so many options at Boxyard it can sometimes be overwhelming. But, no matter what you choose, you really can’t go wrong. And you get to eat your food in a nice outdoor area, normally with live entertainment.
Activity
Boxyard has a stage in the center of the downstairs outdoor seating that most always has people performing. There’s been live music artists and even flame jugglers when I’ve gone in the past. Beyond their live music, boxyard hosts periodic events that you can check out on their website. These include game nights, speakers, and other local artists.
Final Remarks
The dining experience at Boxyard is always so engaging. It’s the perfect lunch break after a long week. Out of all the vendors at the moment, Bulkogi is my favorite and what I got at the time of writing this blog. But, I can’t wait to go back and try all it has to offer.
