Cuya Café + Cocina

Cuya Café + Cocina brings a bright, tropical atmosphere to downtown Raleigh with its abundance of natural light, tropical plants, and vibrant orange, green, and white color palette. It feels like a relaxing escape from the city the moment you walk through the door.
Everything I tried was incredibly fresh and flavorful. The Mango Tajín Doughnut was surprisingly one of my favorites. Even though I'm not usually a fan of Tajín, the combination of creamy frosting, sweet mango, and just a hint of spice worked incredibly well together.
The Puerto Rican pork bánh mì was another standout. It reminded me of a po'boy, but with tender, savory pork served on a crispy baguette with tamarind chutney, pickled vegetables, jalapeño, and a mayo-ketchup sauce that tied everything together. If you're an avocado toast fan, this one is worth ordering. Cuya definitely doesn't skimp on the avocado, which is something I really appreciated. Combined with high quality bread, roasted cherry tomatoes, and sliced nuts, it was both fresh and filling. To drink, I tried the pineapple juice, and it tasted incredibly fresh, just like biting into a ripe pineapple. It was served in a generous carafe along with a cup of ice, which was a nice touch and something I don't often see at cafés.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to try the coffee during my visit because the baristas were unexpectedly out for health reasons. Judging by the menu and presentation, though, the coffee selection looks amazing. The horchata latte especially caught my eye, and it’s definitely something I’ll be coming back to try.
Overall, Cuya Café + Cocina is a great spot if you're looking for fresh Latin American-inspired food in a bright, welcoming space. Whether you're stopping by for breakfast, brunch, or lunch, it's definitely a place I'd recommend checking out!
