Grata Diner
“We’ll feed all y’all.” A pretty solid slogan for a brunch spot. Grata Diner in Carrboro did not disappoint. After running the Tar Heel 10 miler, my brother and I were scavenging for some grub. To say we were hungry would be an understatement. Grata came to the rescue and topped it off with a solid cold brew coffee as well.
Ambiance
Grata Diner is made of brick, including the inside. There is a lot of natural light coming through the windows. They have green plants and a few pictures hung on the walls. When we went it was very crowded, full of post-race people. Overall it had a very warm atmosphere and all the customers were very chatty enjoying their brunch. A crowded brunch spot is a good brunch spot as they say.
Location
Grata is located in the same parking lot as the Harris Teeter in Carrboro. The parking lot is large and we had no trouble parking near the diner. It’s tucked away in the corner and not too close to the road. There’s an outdoor patio with tables so you can choose to eat inside or outside, but will be shaded nonetheless.
Eats
I got a breakfast sandwich- bacon egg and cheese on brioche bread. They had so many options for the breakfast sandwich it was almost overwhelming. Multiple meats, cheeses, and around 4 different bread options. It also came with either fries or tater tots but I chose the fries. I also got a cold brewed coffee. My brother got chicken and waffles which he rated an 8/10. He also got a nice black coffee which was sourced from my favorite Gray Squirrel Coffee Co.
Final Remarks
Grata Diner was the perfect post-race brunch spot and I will definitely be going back.
