Hollybrook Park - Wendell, NC

This past spring, Wendell welcomed a brand-new park to the Triangle’s growing list of awesome places to visit—Hollybrook Park. Officially opened last May 2025, this unique 18.9-acre park is packed with adventure, nature, and inclusive features that make it a perfect park for families of all ages and abilities.
The park features two distinct playground areas, each with its own unique vibe. The all-inclusive playground is a bright, welcoming space with soft rubber surfacing, multiple slides, and a wide variety of swings and play equipment. It was created with accessibility at the forefront, giving children of all abilities the opportunity to play together. While the playground itself isn’t shaded, there’s a nearby picnic shelter with tables and chairs, providing a comfortable spot for adults to sit and relax under the shade.
Just across the parking lot, a short and easy walk leads you to the adventure playground—a completely different experience tucked away under the trees. Made entirely of wood, this playground feels like it’s been dropped into the middle of the forest. Older kids love the climbing ropes, nets, balance challenges, large wooden bridge, and big slides. There’s even a zip line chair! For younger ones, there’s a small slide so they don’t miss out on the adventure. The surrounding woods provide plenty of natural shade, and right next to the playground is a peaceful nature trail and a shallow creek—perfect for cooling off on hot days.
Families can also enjoy basketball and pickleball courts, outdoor workout stations, and a paved walking loop. A nice restroom facility is located next to the all-inclusive playground.
Hollybrook Park was designed as Wendell’s first true neighborhood park, serving nearby homes with easy access and thoughtful amenities. From its inclusive playground to its peaceful wooded trails, it’s clear this park was built with connection and community in mind. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick play session or planning to spend the whole afternoon exploring, there’s something here for everyone!
