Jack Smith Park - Cary

If you’re looking for a fun and free outdoor spot to stay cool in the Triangle, Jack Smith Park in Cary is a must-visit for families with littles! This 50-acre park has everything you need—a splash pad, a playground, a rock climbing wall, walking trails, and even a dog park!
The splash pad is the star of the show during the summertime—perfect for toddlers and young kids, with dump buckets, water sprayers, colorful spray rings, and bubbling fountains. The non-slip concrete surface keeps it safe for littles running. There are shaded picnic tables and benches surrounding the splash area, giving parents a comfortable spot to sit. A bathroom facility is also located conveniently nearby with family rooms.
Right next to the splash pad is a rubber-surfaced playground with something for all age groups. There’s a smaller play structure with slides and baby swings for the younger crowd and a more advanced climbing structure and swings for older kids. There is even a 10-foot rock climbing boulder for kids to practice their climbing skills!
Beyond the playground and splash pad, Jack Smith Park also features greenway trails, a dog park, and some unique art installations. Near the playground, there are three whirligigs, colorful kinetic sculptures made from old farm equipment that spin in the breeze. And out in the open playfield there is a flock of nine Suffolk sheep sculptures, a nod to the land’s farming roots.
