Lake Benson Park - Garner
By Chelsea Nallenweg
Lake Benson Park in Garner is a beautiful, 64-acre park that offers activities for everyone’s interests! The park features 1.8 miles of walking trails that wind around the lake, which are mostly dirt and may be challenging for strollers. Families can also gather at multiple picnic shelters or run around across the large grassy fields, which provide plenty of space for games, sports, or relaxing outdoors.

The lake itself serves as the centerpiece of the park with its peaceful water views and a calm, natural setting. Visitors often enjoy fishing, watching wildlife, or simply taking in the scenery from the shoreline and nearby trails. Boating is not allowed.

The playground includes two separate play structures designed for different age groups. Kids can enjoy multiple slides, a rock climbing wall, and lots of swings. There are large trees surrounding the playground and a canopy above it—so plenty of shade for those warm sunny spring days that are hopefully coming! The playground is conveniently located just a short walk from the lake and surrounding trails.

Lake Benson Park is also home to the Garner Veterans Memorial, a peaceful and meaningful tribute to local service members. In addition, the park includes a dog park with designated play areas for both large and small dogs. Lake Benson Park is the perfect park to add to your list this spring!
