Lake Myra Christmas Lights - Wendell, NC

By Chelsea Nallenweg

Lake Myra Christmas Lights in downtown Wendell is a magical holiday tradition that brings the season to life with thousands of sparkling lights and festive music! And the best part about this event is that it’s FREE! They do have a donation box to help keep this tradition going each year. It began at a local man, Don Williams’, house over 25 years ago and grew so big that the town of Wendell worked with him to move it to their downtown! It’s one of the largest computerized light shows in North Carolina.

Guests can wander along a glowing path, walk beneath the towering illuminated tree, or simply grab a spot to sit and enjoy the show. Every light is perfectly timed to cheerful Christmas music and even tells a holiday story if you stay for the entire show. If you prefer to stay cozy in the car, you can tune in through their radio station and watch from your vehicle, though the walk-through experience is definitely recommended for getting up close to the lights.

The 2025 season runs nightly from November 26th through December 31st 2026, 5:30 to 10:00 PM, giving families plenty of time to bundle up, sip cocoa, and enjoy the holiday musical lights. Santa will also be visiting on Saturday nights from November 29th through December 20th from 7 to 9 PM. Whether you’re making new memories or coming back for a yearly tradition, Lake Myra Christmas Lights is a unique, bright, and fun way to dance into the season!
