Mills Playground- Cary
Since the groundhog saw his shadow predicting six more weeks of winter, here is a great playground in the Triangle for those colder days! Mills Playground in Cary, which opened in the spring of 2024, is a fantastic playground for kids to play and explore this winter as there is not a lot of shade, so it will keep kids warmer in the sun for those colder days! Located right next to Mills Park Elementary School and Mills Park Middle School, this modern style playground offers a wide variety of unique features that make it a standout in the Triangle.
The turf-covered hills are perfect for running, climbing and rolling down, along with the fun crawl-through tunnel for adventurous explorers. The playground also features multiple rope climbing structures that challenge kids’ balance and strength, and two slides built into the hills. The disc swing and spinner are great for little ones. The ground is soft rubber so another plus for littles! However, this park is definitely geared for ages 4 and up since a lot of equipment is on the more challenging side.
Right next to the playground is a giant, open field perfect for running, playing tag, or kicking around a soccer ball. Bathrooms are available right next to the playground, which is a huge plus to this park.
One unique feature of Mills Playground is its food waste collection site in the parking lot. There’s a detailed list provided of what’s accepted, making it easy to participate in eco-friendly practices. There is no cost to use this service.
If you’re looking for a playground to test your kid’s climbing ability or simply run around and get some wiggles out, Mills Playground is a great option! Mills Playground is a wonderful addition to Cary’s community spaces so be sure to add this to your list of playgrounds to check out!
