Nature Play Area at Sugg Farm - Holly Springs

By Chelsea Nallenweg

Now that the weather is warming up, there’s a new place for families to explore outdoors in Holly Springs! The new nature play area and sensory trail at Sugg Farm Park, located near Bass Lake Park, is a unique space where children of all abilities can play together while connecting with nature.

Designed for children ages 2–10, the nature play area focuses on hands-on exploration and imaginative play rather than traditional playground equipment. Everything is made of natural wood—there's a small slide, rope balance beam, wooden playhouse, and lots of grassy area to roam. One section features a giant sand play area where kids can dig, scoop, and build. A highlight of the play space is the imaginative labyrinth, which lets kids slow down and explore a winding path designed like a maze!

Families can also enjoy the quarter-mile sensory trail that winds through the natural landscape of Sugg Farm. Along the trail, children are encouraged to experience nature with their senses by smelling flowers, touching pinecones and bark, listening to birds, and keeping an eye out for squirrels and other wildlife. There are even some fun things to look for on the walk, like a fairy door or face on a tree!

With its woodsy, nature design and focus on outdoor play, the new nature play area and sensory trail at Sugg Farm Park are a wonderful addition for families looking to spend time outside, explore nature, and let kids play freely this spring!
