Somehow a drink enjoyed in the warmth of a comfy coffee shop just tastes better. Combine that with a small business who’s focused on supporting the community and creating welcoming spaces for friends to gather, and you’ve got NoRa Cafe! As you head East on Strickland Road, this favorite spot will be a sneaky right turn just after you pass Ray Road. It’s easy to miss, but you won’t want to! The quaint North Raleigh cafe serves up an impressive variety of specialty lattes, espresso drinks and teas by day, and transitions into a cozy wine bar by evening.
Coffee lovers can choose from a classic drip coffee (if you plan to stay and sip, be sure to ask for “NoRa’s Community Cup” for bottomless refills!), or an elevated, interesting latte like the “Killer Bee” with honey, dark chocolate and cayenne pepper. NoRa’s visitors can expect predictably good brews thanks to their kind baristas, and trusted local bean provider just thirty minutes to their West, Carborro Coffee Roasters!
Tasty beverages aren’t the only thing on NoRa’s menu. If you’re craving a hearty start to your day, the deliciously creative spin on avocado toast includes pickled onions and a splash of balsamic glaze. Or try a hot breakfast sandwich with your choice of cheese on a fresh-baked English muffin or biscuit courtesy of the local bakeries NoRa partners with! And if you’ve come with a sweet tooth, you’ll love the famous Liege Waffle and selection of scratch-made breads, muffins and croissants.
If time permits you to linger, there’s not a bad seat in the house! NoRa Cafe curates lots of enticing nooks to settle in and admire the work of this month’s featured artist which hangs on the wood slat wall to the right as you enter. Featured this January is the captivating nature photography of Nancy Arehart! Large tables toward the back of the venue make for perfect study spaces, and vintage vinyls offer fun distractions and conversation starters.
The Cafe keeps a busy social calendar… and you’re invited! Stay privy to fun events on Instagram and the calendar posted on their website. Earlier this month, NoRa hosted a “Wine and Wolves” wine tasting with proceeds donated to the Champions for Wildlife foundation. We’re excited to see what lands on the calendar next!
NoRa Cafe is open daily from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Stop by 12333 Strickland Rd in North Raleigh for a smile and a caffeinated pick-me-up!
