Winter may be coming to an end soon but that doesn’t mean ice skating has to! Polar Ice Cary is a premier indoor ice-skating facility in Cary, offering year round public skating for all ages! They also offer figure skating lessons, hockey, and Learn to Skate programs for both children and adults. Open year-round, it’s the perfect place to enjoy ice skating near Raleigh, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced skater.
Originally built as a roller-skating rink in 1978, the facility was converted into an ice-skating rink in 1986 and now features a single-sheet ice surface. The rink hosted the 1987 U.S. Olympic Festival as well as the North Carolina State Games in 2003, 2004, and 2005.
Aside from public skating, they also host birthday party packages for those looking to celebrate on the ice. There is a private room for parties and they offer various food packages. Figure skating and hockey programs are also available for both kids and adults, making it a great place to learn and grow in the sport. They have camps throughout the year as well. The facility also hosts Late Skate Nights for high school and college students aged 18 and over with a valid student ID, where admission is just $10 and includes the skate rental. Guests can take a break and enjoy food from the concession area, which has windows looking at the rink.
Admission prices vary depending on the day. On weekends and holidays, public admission is $12, with an option to include skate rental for $16. Weekday public admission is $10 and includes skate rental if needed. Children aged five and under can skate any day for just $5 and that includes the skate rental! For younger skaters under 54 inches tall, skating aids are available to help them feel more confident on the ice. Be sure to check the website calendar for specific skate times.
