Sassafras All Children’s Playground- Raleigh

Sassafras All Children’s Playground, located within Laurel Hills Park in West Raleigh and only three minutes from Crabtree Mall, is a thoughtfully designed, inclusive space where children of all abilities can enjoy together. This playground is one of Raleigh’s biggest playgrounds at a whopping 3.5 acres! This large multi-level playground has accessible ramps and decks that lead to all sorts of fun! 

For older kids there are many different climbing structures located throughout the park. There is also a 20 yard zip line that allows kids to glide through the air with ease and safety—complete with an assisted seat option that adds stability for children who need extra support.

The playground’s extensive “tree house” play structures are connected by wide, low-grade ramps, offering kids of all abilities to move through it. The playground also features specific areas for toddlers, with shorter climbing structures, tunnels, a balance beam, and a rolling slide. Additionally, a smaller tot play area includes rope swings and a climbing sphere just for little ones.

At the playground’s far end there is a variety of swings, from tot swings and tire swings to wheelchair-accessible options, plus a nearby basketball court. There is also a sand pit area with a sand box and an accessible sand table.

The Laurel Hills Community Center is right next to the playground and offers classes and open play sports. There is also a pond and nature area to explore, along with walking trails and a boardwalk.

With its accessible features, unique play structures, and large variety of activities, Sassafras Playground offers a welcoming environment where every kid can find something fun to play with. Whether soaring on zip lines, exploring the “tree houses,” or playing in the sandbox, Sassafras Playground is a great park for Raleigh families!
