Until recently, I assumed the dining experience that I’d grown to love after spending 10 years in the Southwest – colorful art, homemade salsa and sizzling fajitas – was a distant memory. Tasty Mexican food can feel like an exception, not the rule when you live almost 1500 miles away from our southern neighbor!
The happy reality is that if you call the Triangle “home”, great Mexican food is just through the doors of your nearby Torero’s Mexican Restaurant! This local favorite has been serving the area for over 20 years, offering an impressive menu of festive drinks, enchiladas, burritos and so much more at wallet-friendly prices.
Torero’s puts as much thought into the presentation of their plates as they do the flavors of their authentic cuisine. Most items are served with a side of rice and beans, nestled in a crunchy tortilla bowl. There’s something for everyone - veggie cravers and meat lovers alike! Their Veggie-Chiladas are a must try, loaded with seasoned and steamed carrots, mushrooms, broccoli and squash. Or, go for a cheesy carnitas burrito topped with house-made molcajete sauce.
Torero’s calls for a party! Invite your friends to share a pitcher of fresh-made margaritas and lively conversation over bottomless chips and salsa in the main dining area. Or, catch the game inside the cozy bar at any one of the three locations. The vibrant decor doesn’t disappoint either, with paintings, parrots and palm trees setting a tropical scene. We hear the Goldsboro location even has fishtanks! Not near Goldsboro? Not to worry! Torero’s also makes an appearance in Raleigh and Cary. [Photo: Inside]
All locations are open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., offering lunch specials daily before 3 p.m. You won’t regret picking Torero’s Mexican Restaurant the next time you find yourself saying, “Let’s try something different!” It might just become your new favorite!
