Wong’s Tacos Raleigh

 By Cindy Shi

When Wong’s Tacos opened its first North Carolina location minutes from Crabtree Valley Mall in July 2025, it brought along a unique culinary concept that’s been fondly described as “Mexinese .” This term captures the restaurant’s bold combination of Mexican and Chinese influences—a lively blend of culinary traditions rooted in staff-meal experiments hailing from Richmond, Virginia.

From the first step through the door, you’re welcomed by a vibrant, high-energy space. Bright decor featuring Day of the Dead themes along with waving Chinese lucky cats establishes the mood for an experience that’s bold & original. Whether you choose to dine indoors, on the spacious outdoor patio, or at the full-service bar, the setting feels built for casual hangouts with unforgettable flavor.

Wong’s Tacos menu is built on popular street-food favorites with a variety of different tacos, burritos, nachos, and quesadillas, but recreated with innovative twists. We started off strong with a refreshing frozen margarita with a Tajín rim, perfect for a hot summer day. Next, we ordered an appetizer recommended by the waiter, the Brisket Bao. Nestled inside cloud-like steamed bao buns, tender Korean brisket melts in your mouth. The Asian slaw gave it an added crunch, while the sliced jalapenos brought some heat. Finally, our favorite element of the dish was the gochujang aioli, both creamy and tangy. The Crispy Brussel Sprouts Tacos were flavorful and perfectly fried for a satisfying crunch. A drizzle of spicy cilantro crema contributed a tangy, herb-heavy kick that paired with the sprouts nicely.

Wong’s Tacos had a broad selection suited for any dietary restrictions. The tacos had substitute options of corn tortillas or lettuce wraps. Any menu items could be modified as needed.

Located at 4251 Parklake Avenue near Crabtree Valley Mall, the menu spans fajitas, bowls, burritos, quesadillas, tempura chicken wings, and loaded nachos, showcasing a wide-ranging fusion of textures, flavors, and formats.
